What
type of driving licence do I need to ride a monkey bike legally
on the road in the UK?
If you are sixteen years old or older, and have completed
CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) or have a full car driving
license obtained before February 2001 and valid insurance,
then you can ride a 49cc monkey on the road.
The standard 49cc Monkey can be registered as a new moped.
This means that you can ride it on a full car license (obtained
before February 2001) without "L" plates. (CBT may
be required by your insurance Co.)
To ride a Monkey Bike with a larger engine you will need
to be over 17 yrs, have a full motorcycle license or CBT &
display "L" plates.
Please check with the dvla for latest updates:

The Monkey-Bikes have lights, flashers, speedo, stop/tail
light & horn and are road legal (except Dirt Monkey).
What
do I do about vehicle registration and road tax?
With the purchase of a new bike, we register your
bike and arrange the first year’s road tax for you free
of charge. Road tax for a 49cc is currently £15 per
year, and first registration costs £38.
What
warranties do the bikes come with?
All new Easyrider bikes come with a 6 months manufacturers
parts only warranty. All new Honda bikes come with a 12 month,
parts only warranty, This does not cover bikes used off road,
fair wear and tear, bulbs, batteries, lubricants, kickstart
lever, spark plug or cap, chains, bodywork/paint, brake linings/pads,
tyres, accident damage, neglect or misuse.
Can
you maintain my bike and do you have spare parts?
We provide all spares and can service and maintain
all the bikes we sell.
How
do I get insurance?
Getting insurance for your Monkey Bike couldn’t
be easier or more cost effective. We can arrange insurance
cover for you or you can arrange insurance yourself. Simply
refer to the Jincheng monkey bikes as “Easyrider”
bikes, which is the official name for them in the UK. Do not
describe them as Jincheng or Monkey bikes.
